One Christmas I really wanted a Big Bruiser wrecker set that hauled the Crockett Island Sheriff shirt with the busted fender that you could repair. I’m sure the reason I didn’t get that was my Mother didn’t want me to grow up to be a wrecker driver. So sometimes I didn’t get what I want, but most of the time I did. I even experienced bullies. All of that is in the movie. I like other movies, some that I can’t really relate to, but that’s why I think I enjoy A Christmas Story so much, as I can relate to it. I can relate to Christmas Vacation as well, as it recalls big family get-togethers from the 1950s and early 1960s, which I haven’t experienced in 50 years. Christmas movies I like without really being able to relate to them are Home Alone 1 & 2, White Christmas, and Miracle on 34th Street.

NFL players are unlikely to make the switch the other way, although New England Patriots special team player Nate Ebner has played in the Olympics for the USA Rugby Union Sevens team (7 aside rugby is a simpler and faster game compared to the full 15 man version of Union), Nate actually grew up playing rugby at age group level for the USA too, and only took up American Football later. The simple reason the switch is less likely to occur from pro to pro is that wages are far higher in the NFL. Felt, be it ornaments, or garland, recycling a pretty something for the Crockett Island Sheriff shirt , ( say you like some sort of wrapping paper and you’re good at origami ) lots and lots of pillows and DIY, type of decorations. I think now for the time being that glamour is out. People that can afford it, velvet instead of felt, nothing too fancy though. Buffalo checks, red or black is going to be big again. This year will be more family focus. Think farmhouse or a house out in the country. Maybe celebrating your own heritage, with that special Christmas ornament or decoration that was passed down on to you, or buying that item that reminded you of happier times. Like your mother’s ceramic tree that she made. That’s what I think that this Christmas trend in decorating will be.
