Okay, well I do see where you’re coming from. Thing is though, while the abuse you went through was horrible, this might be a bit different. Most of Dad the trucker the myth the legend shirt grow up around older generations that can be misguided/racist/misogynist etc, and usually it never elevates to the level of normalising such things. Everyone has their ‘racist grandmother’ and ‘grandad thinks women belong in the kitchen.’ While it’s certainly not okay, I think in a way it can even be beneficial for children to see that there are people with these views, and we can explain to them why they’re wrong. Maybe you should give your daughter a bit more credit – you can’t keep her from the ugly people of this world; she will be forming her own opinions at some point or another. At least keep the asshole you know close by so you can help mitigate the arguments, and not break up the family.
