My condition was so bad that my dad didn’t want to waste money on my coaching for Merry Christmas Everyone Hat Santa shirt because he was sure it wasn’t my cup of tea.*Imagine your dad telling that to you on your face* Despite the odds, it made a lot of sense. I couldn’t do well in an easy exam like 12th boards and we were talking about one of the toughest entrance exams. Then I thought to myself, how worse can things get. I am already the stupidest JEE aspirant on paper. Even if I crack AIEEE with a decent rank, I would be really happy. So, I start studying like crazy paying no heed to my dad’s taunts. By the end of first two months(16hrs per day prep), I had finished 90% of JEE’s maths syllabus. I joined a coaching institute and started attending Physics and Chemistry classes with both drop batch and 12th batch (Had to request my coaching to let me do that). I slowly moved up the ranks in the weekly tests and by October, I was steadily in the top 10. Fast forward to Aug 2012, I joined IIT Kharagpur Mechanical Engineering with an AIR of 968. I can share every tiny detail of the struggle but what’s important to understand is that stress or mental pressure is really just a state of the mind. Even in your lowest point, if you are able to set a goal and stay true to yourself, there is nothing you can’t do. It’s just a matter of time before hard work and persistence pays off!

And you should be disheartened by the unlimited power and freedom of all political parties (because without exception political parties have damaged every nation where they have existed). That is how we can stop the insanity on both sides. You are not alone in not noticing that for every “wrong” either party is guilty of- the other is equally guilty for that or an equally serious reason. And you are not alone in not noticing how it seems candidates from both parties seem to be just taking turns at screwing something up – usually the things they’ve promised to fix. BTW: I paid eager attention to the Democrat town hall meetings they conducted to “sell” the Affordable Care Act. I was appalled at how vague they all were – no matter which House Representative or Senator was at the meeting. This seemed to “match” what Republicans were saying about that bill (it wasn’t yet voted into law). And they turned out to be right on that point. (wrong as hell about other points but that’s my point).
