The other awful thing about Netflix, that makes them even worse and more trigger-happy than tv networks, is the fact that they say the Santa Claus all I got for Christmas was fat T-Shirt and the first month of streaming is what makes or breaks a show. They also especially look at people binge through an entire show in a short timespan. You *literally* cannot build an audience with that kind of expectation, you either get a massive hit upfront or it’s viewed as a complete failure. Even networks give some middling shows an entire season to gather viewership. A show like Community, ironically enough a huge hit on Netflix as a catalog acquisition, would never have survived as a Netflix original.

Best Santa Claus all I got for Christmas was fat T-Shirt
I agree with the article that Netflix is killing shows too early. My wife and I just finished watching Altered Carbon’s second season (late in the game, I know, but that’s the joy of Santa Claus all I got for Christmas was fat T-Shirt they’re on my time) and we were both really entertained on how the season brought more to the world at large and we were really interested where the story would go…too bad the show got cancelled. It really felt like it had done its job explaining the weird nature of its sci-fi universe and was ready to go a little wild, but Netflix cut it at the knees.
