Snowmobile hide your crazy and ride like a lady shirt
I’ve noticed that this attitude gets more hostile the closer to Ontario you are in Quebec. West of Montreal it’s noticable, but the worst aggression I’ve ever encountered has been in Gatineau. I’ve usually only encountered the second attitude east of Snowmobile hide your crazy and ride like a lady shirt, and east of Quebec city tends to be the most chill about language, even if communication is hardest there. Even franco-ontarian people will sometimes get (reasonably) annoyed at broken French and will correct everything you say or only speak to you in English.

Best Snowmobile hide your crazy and ride like a lady shirt
Interesting point of view. I’ve been living in Montreal for 8 years, and lived in Gatineau for almost a Snowmobile hide your crazy and ride like a lady shirt. I’m bilingual from a québécois family, and I think I’ve identified a tendency to get aggressive about the language issue in people who seemed less.. bright? Any time I hear a rant about anglos not making an effort to learn, it seems to come from someone who can’t speak English very well or at all. And they often can’t expand on their feelings or opinions on the matter, it just always seems a bit circle-jerky and misinformed. Everyone I know who is open-minded and capable of critical thinking generally doesn’t give a shit about anglophones not speaking French. They’ll gladly switch to English to accommodate others even if they’re not fluent.
