I researched this photo for a project for my photography course. The vulture was also not as close as VanLife shirt. The child wasn’t in any danger from the bird. Edit: for clarification to stop the “well ackshuallys” the controversy of the image was the bird being there but it was actually far away and the child was next to the photographer and other people. The child was never going to be eaten by the bird. The controversy contributed a lot to the photographer’s mental health and combined with other factors led to him eventually taking his own life. If I remember correctly he also gave back the Pulitzer prize but I may be wrong on that.

Best VanLife shirt
No sorry it was a small essay for a low level qualification. I don’t think I even kept the work from VanLife shirt. I mostly used Wikipedia and some online search results for “Kevin Carter vulture photo”. Here is one of the sources I used which is the first hit that comes up. There have been a lot of articles written on the subject it’s a really compelling photo and is widely discussed in the photography world on the topic of ethical photography and photojournalism because it’s such a striking photo and is a great example to use for the question of “when should a photographer not take a photo” as it can be discussed from many different perspectives.
